Child Immunization Services

At Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, we provide essential immunization services to protect children’s health. Our offerings include:

Routine Vaccinations: Following the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) recommended schedule for children from birth through 18 years.
Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program: A federally funded initiative providing free vaccines to eligible children.
Provider Education: Informing local healthcare providers about the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) and the importance of VFC program participation.
Immunization Waiver Education: Sessions available by appointment for those seeking more information or needing assistance with immunization waivers.-
COVID-19 Vaccines: Available for eligible children and adults.
Seasonal Flu Clinics: Additional clinics in the fall for flu vaccinations.

VFC Program: Free Child Vaccines

Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program

Children from birth through age 18 can receive vaccines through the VFC program if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Medicaid Eligible
  • Have NO health insurance
  • Are Native American or Alaskan Native
  • Have health insurance that does not cover immunizations

VFC Vaccine Administration Fee:

  • $23.00 per vaccine
  • Maximum out-of-pocket cost of $69.00

If you cannot afford to pay the administration fee, you are encouraged to pay what you can. No child will be denied services due to an inability to pay. Administration fees will be waived for those who cannot afford them.

Immunizations for Insured Children

The Van Buren/Cass District Health Department offers immunization services for privately insured children and adolescents.

Key Details:

Insurance Billing: We bill directly to participating private insurance companies upon verifying coverage.

Insurance Information: Provide your insurance details when scheduling. We verify plan participation, coverage levels, and vaccine availability.

Administration Fee: A $23.00 fee per injection is charged, in addition to the vaccine cost.

Any amount not covered by insurance is your responsibility.
