MDHHS Reminds Residents of Free COVID-19 Testing Options

As fall begins, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is reminding Michigan residents of the various COVID-19 testing options available. With respiratory diseases like COVID-19, RSV, and influenza more common during fall and winter, residents are urged to stay home if they feel unwell, even if a COVID-19 test comes back negative.

Key Highlights:

  • Free COVID-19 At-Home Tests:
U.S. residents can receive up to four free at-home COVID-19 tests per household by visiting COVIDTests.gov.
  • Michigan Testing Resources:
Michiganders can locate testing sites through Michigan.gov/COVIDTest.
  • Neighborhood Wellness Centers:
Formerly Neighborhood Testing Sites, these centers offer on-site COVID-19 and influenza testing and distribute free at-home COVID-19 tests.
  • Participating Libraries:
MDHHS partners with libraries across the state to provide free at-home COVID-19 tests. Click here for a list of participating locations.

Recommendations for Families:

  • Keep a supply of COVID-19 tests and well-fitting masks at home.
  • Stay updated with the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Consult with healthcare providers about therapeutic options for those who test positive for COVID-19.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell and follow Respiratory Virus Protection Strategies.
