Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc. has expanded its recall of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to possible Listeria contamination. Approximately 7 million additional pounds of products are affected, including items under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brand names. These were produced between May 10, 2024, and July 29, 2024, and have “sell by” dates from July 29, 2024, to October 17, 2024. Products were distributed nationwide and to the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Panama.
The recall follows the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in a liverwurst sample by the Maryland Department of Health. This bacterium can cause severe illness, particularly in pregnant individuals, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems.
Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and discard or return any affected products. Retailers should follow FSIS guidelines to clean and sanitize deli areas to prevent further contamination.
