Non-Medical Immunization Exemption (Waiver) Education

Follow the process below to request a non-medical exemption (waiver) from Van Buren/Cass County Health Department (VBCDHD).

Children Playing

Overview

Michigan law requires children to have certain vaccines or a valid exemption (waiver) before attending:

  • Public school
  • Private school
  • Licensed childcare

These requirements help prevent the spread of disease and protect children and the community.

Parents or legal guardians who choose not to fully vaccinate their child must complete immunization waiver education through their local health department before requesting a non-medical exemption (waiver).
