Medication Disposal

Dispose of unwanted medications through our Red Med Box program.

Accepted:

  • Pills
  • Liquids in original containers

Not accepted:

  • Inhalers
  • Needles or sharps

Drop-off locations:

  • Cass County: 302 S. Front St., Dowagiac
  • Van Buren County: 260 South St., Lawrence

Sharps Disposal

Sharps Collection Program

Residents can safely dispose of used needles, syringes, and lancets at Van Buren/Cass District Health Department offices.

Please bring sharps in a tightly sealed, puncture-proof container such as:

  • Medical sharps container
  • Heavy-duty plastic detergent jugs
  • Metal or hard plastic coffee cans

Safely dispose of used needles, syringes, and sharps at our Lawrence or Dowagiac collection sites.

Collection hours: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Lawrence – Van Buren County:
March 20 • June 12 • September 4 • November 25

Dowagiac – Cass County:
March 17 • June 9 • September 1 • November 24

Please note: Proof of residency is required. Limit of 2 sharps containers per household.
