Van Buren/Cass District Health Department is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team in Lawrence, MI.

This is a full-time position responsible for managing payroll, overseeing core accounting functions, preparing financial reports, supporting audits and budget processes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. The Accounting Manager will help maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial operations while serving as a resource to staff accountants and collaborating across departments.

Responsibilities include maintaining general ledger entries and reconciliations, assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial reports, assisting with annual budget preparation and monitoring, and supporting audits.

The Accounting Manager will also process bi-weekly payroll, ensure compliance with tax and benefit requirements, prepare and submit federal, state, and local tax returns and payroll liabilities, maintain payroll system accuracy, respond to employee questions, and ensure compliance with internal controls and financial regulations.

Salary: $65,000–$80,000, based on experience.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field and at least five years of accounting experience. Experience in healthcare or government is preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft 365. Experience with MIP Financial Software is preferred. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Van Buren Cass District Health Department is seeking a Public Health Nurse to support our community health programs.

This is a full-time position focused on promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities through education, prevention, nursing care, and case management.

The Public Health Nurse will provide services in homes and clinics, including immunizations, communicable disease control, lead poisoning prevention, adolescent health services, health assessments, and case management for children with special needs. The position will also collaborate with healthcare providers, social service agencies, and community partners to connect clients with the care and resources they need.

Starting pay: $31–$33/hour, based on experience.

Qualifications include a current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license and either a bachelor’s degree in nursing with at least two years of community or public health nursing experience, or at least three years of RN experience, preferably in a community or public health setting. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are also required.
