Sharps Collection Program
Residents can safely dispose of used needles, syringes, and lancets at Van Buren/Cass District Health Department offices.
Please bring sharps in a tightly sealed, puncture-proof container such as:
- Medical sharps container
- Heavy-duty plastic detergent jugs
- Metal or hard plastic coffee cans

Sharps Disposal - Safe and Convenient
Collection Locations & Dates:
Safely dispose of used needles and sharps at our designated collection sites:
- Van Buren County – Lawrence Office: 4/18, 7/11, 10/3, 12/26
- Cass County – Dowagiac Office: 4/4, 6/27, 9/19, 12/12
Hours: Fridays, 9 AM – 1 PM
Requirements:
- Proof of residency required
- Limit of 2 sharps containers per household
