Sharps Collection Program

Residents can safely dispose of used needles, syringes, and lancets at Van Buren/Cass District Health Department offices.

Please bring sharps in a tightly sealed, puncture-proof container such as:

  • Medical sharps container
  • Heavy-duty plastic detergent jugs
  • Metal or hard plastic coffee cans

Collection Locations & Dates:

Safely dispose of used needles and sharps at our designated collection sites:

  • Van Buren County – Lawrence Office: 4/18, 7/11, 10/3, 12/26
  • Cass County – Dowagiac Office: 4/4, 6/27, 9/19, 12/12

Hours: Fridays, 9 AM – 1 PM

Requirements:

  • Proof of residency required
  • Limit of 2 sharps containers per household
