Van Buren/Cass District Health Department (VBCDHD) handles all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests according to the guidelines outlined below.

Request Guidelines

  • Tell us what records you need (dates, names, places).
  • Include your name and contact info.
  • Write clearly.
  • We reply in about 5 business days. If more time is needed, we’ll let you know.
  • Some details may be covered if the law says we cannot share them.

Request Fees

FOIA law allows us to charge fees to cover costs.

  • Copies: $0.10 per page (double-sided counts as one page).

  • Staff time: $4.50 per 15 minutes (minimum $4.50).

  • Electronic copies: Same cost as paper copies.

  • Other media (DVDs, flash drives, etc.): Actual cost of the device.

Payment may be required before records are sent.
