What is Tuberculosis? (TB)
Tuberculosis (TB) is an airborne disease that can spread when a person with active TB coughs, speaks, or sneezes.
- Active TB: Causes illness and can spread to others.
- Latent TB: TB germs are present but inactive and not contagious. They can become active later.
Get Tested for TB
How Do I Know if I Have TB?
TB testing is recommended if you have been exposed to someone with active TB.
- TB skin test: A small amount of testing solution is placed under the skin. Return in 2–3 days for results.
- TB blood test: A blood test checks your immune response to TB germs.
- If positive: Additional testing, such as a chest X-ray or sputum test, may be needed.

Two visits required: Test placement and a follow-up visit 48–72 hours later for results.
