Childhood Vision and Hearing Screenings
Children's free vision and hearing screenings from the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department.
Why Screenings Matter:
- Early detection: Helps identify concerns that may affect learning and development.
- Required screenings: Michigan requires hearing and vision screenings for certain age groups.
- Free and convenient: Screenings are free and available at schools, health department offices, and special clinics.
Preschoolers
Michigan requires hearing and vision screenings for children ages 3–5.
Screenings are also required before children enter kindergarten.
School Age
Hearing: Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and as needed by referral.
Vision: Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th grades, during driver’s training, and as needed by referral.
