Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment (KOHA)

Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment Program

Prepare your kindergartner with a dental assessment! Kindergarteners in Michigan are eligible to receive a FREE dental screening provided by VBCDHD.

The program is available in Van Buren and Cass Michigan counties in the 2025-2026 school year.

Contact your child’s school or call VBCDHD to find out when screenings are happening. You may also download and take the KOHA Assessment Form to your dentist, have them fill it out, and return a copy to the school.

Sliding Scale Fees (Starting in 2026)

Starting in 2026, eligible patients may qualify for a sliding scale fee based on household income. To qualify, you must:

  • Have no dental insurance
  • Complete an application below
  • Provide proof of income
