Boil Water Notice – 205 and 213 Spaulding Street, Dowagiac

The City of Dowagiac has issued a Boil Water Notice for two properties only:

205 Spaulding Street, Dowagiac
213 Spaulding Street, Dowagiac

The notice is being issued as a precaution following a loss of water pressure associated with watermain repair work beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 8.

What You Should Do

If you are using water at either of these two properties, DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.

Bring all water to a boil and boil for at least one minute, then allow it to cool before using. Bottled water may also be used.

Use boiled or bottled water for:

• Drinking
• Making ice
• Brushing teeth
• Washing dishes
• Preparing food

Boiling water helps kill bacteria and other microorganisms that may be present following a loss of water pressure.

How Long Will the Notice Last?

The City of Dowagiac is taking corrective measures to restore the water system. Once water pressure is restored, water samples will be collected and tested to confirm that the water meets state drinking water standards.

The Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until testing confirms that the water is safe. A follow-up notice will be issued when the boil water notice has been lifted.

The City anticipates the issue may be resolved within approximately 48 hours, but residents should continue following the boil water instructions until an official notice states that the advisory has been lifted.
