Public Notice: Proposed Bovine TB Testing Order in Benzie and Manistee Counties
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) has proposed a bovine tuberculosis (TB) testing order in specific areas of Benzie and Manistee counties due to the detection of TB in a wild deer in February 2024.
This proposed order aims to comply with Public Act 466, requiring MDARD to hold a public hearing and accept comments on the proposed order. The order would mandate bovine TB testing for all cattle and bison herds within the designated areas by December 31, 2024. Residents are encouraged to participate in the public hearing on April 25, 2024, either in person at Crystal Mountain or online via Zoom.
Comments on the proposed order must be submitted by 5:00 P.M. on May 10, 2024, either via email or mail. For more information and to access the Zoom link for the public hearing, please read press release here.
